Frequently Asked Questions

How does the plugin help with point cloud visualization in Revit?

ClearEdge3D Tools for Revit enhances point cloud visualization by allowing you to easily show, hide, colorize, and isolate point clouds or specific scan locations. With tools like Toggle Category Visibility and Scan Painter, you can quickly adjust how your point cloud data is displayed, helping you better understand and work with your reality capture data. Additionally, the plugin allows you to apply RGB, intensity, or normals values to your models, making it easier to visualize and render accurate, real-world conditions in your Revit projects.

What versions of Revit are supported?

ClearEdge3D Tools for Revit is supported on Autodesk® Revit® for the current year and the previous three years. Ensure you have one of these versions installed before using the plugin.

Can I use unstructured or mobile point cloud data?

For best results, your point cloud data should be structured (non-unified). If the data is unstructured (unified), the Create Markers & Views tool will only create one Scanner Location Marker at the coordinate system origin, limiting its functionality.

What does Scan Painter do?

Scan Painter takes your point cloud data and applies the RGB or intensity values directly to the materials of your Revit elements, allowing you to colorize your models based on reality capture data. This creates visually accurate models without the need for heavy point cloud files.
