Direct Illumination

This article will cover the how to use the Direct Illumination feature in Collage Site.

The Direct Illumination feature in Collage Site allows you to tap any point in your point cloud viewer and have your connected scanning instrument automatically illuminate that point in your project with it’s laser pointer.

To be able to activate the feature, you need to ensure that three conditions are met:

  1. You are connected to a scanning instrument
  2. You have scan data processed and visible in your project
  3. You have a station created in your project

Once these conditions are met, tapping the Direct Illumination icon towards the top of the screen will cycle the tool through its different states.

Direct Illumination States

When first connecting to a scanner you will see the following toolbar that shows the Direct Illumination icon on the far right side as a triangle with an red x inside:

This red x icon means the Direct Illumination function is currently off.

This blue check mark icon means the Direct Illumination function is currently ready to use. When in this state tapping a point in your point cloud will activate this function and the laser will illuminate the point you selected.

This green laser icon means the Direct Illumination function is currently active and the laser is illuminating your selected point.
